How to Make a Burlap wreath

This DIY Burlap Wreath project can be made with any material you choose. I love the look of burlap and so I knew that I would love this wreath when I decided to use burlap as the main fabric. The gold and silver ribbon flowing through different sections and the flowers give it such a unique look. I used a large bow I made for the focal point of my wreath. I’ve made wreaths with several different bases, but this three-tiered wire wreath was probably my favorite. It allowed me to made my wreath pop out and gives it a bigger appearance.

Time needed: 1 hour.

Materials and Equipment Needed
•Wire Wreath frame
•Burlap Ribbon or Burlap Material
• 2 different color ribbon
•Flowers
•Pipe Cleaner or Floral Wrap
• Hot Glue Gun

  1. Step One

I did not have a burlap ribbon, but I did have burlap material so I cut this into strips about 8 in wide. If you are using a burlap ribbon you can skip this step and go straight to step 2.

  2. Step Two

Fold your burlap ribbon in half, then fold the top down about an inch and fold in half again. I did not have any pipe cleaner on hand at the time so I used 22 gauge wire, but pipe cleaner works great. Tire off your fold so that it is secure and will not reopen.Fold your burlap ribbon in half, then fold the top down

  3. Step Three

From the bottom of the wire wreath frame pull the secured end of your burlap ribbon and fasten it to the frame. Pull the burlap ribbon through the frame just enough to make a puffy appearance and move to the next portion of the frame. Continue this process until the entire frame is covered with your burlap ribbon. Once you have made it through the entire frame secure your burlap so that it will not come undone. From the bottom of the wire wreath frame pull the secured end of your burlap ribbon and fasten it to the frame.

  4. Step Four

You are now ready to use your other ribbon to decorate your wreath. Think of the burlap as your Christmas tree and the other ribbon are the ornaments on the tree. Choose one of the other colors of ribbon you have and start to do the same process you did for the burlap, but in smaller sections.Wrap the burlap around the entire frame.

  5. Step Five

With your hot glue gun apply your flowers to different areas of your wreath giving it a fuller appearance. Once you have the look you are going for you are now ready to make your bow.

  6. Step Six

Choose the ribbon you are going to use to make your bow and follow the instructional video for how to make your own bow. Once you have your bow completed place it anywhere you would like on your wreath. I usually use the bow as the centerpiece for my creation.
